I had my Operating Room Clinical Experience this week and was able to watch a lot of interesting surgeries and learned a lot. Also I am busy studying away this week for my first Nursing Care 1 test of the semester. My test is Monday so my weekend is going to consist of studying, studying, and more studying. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the week and has a wonderful weekend!

FRIDAY!

It's Friday! I don't know about you, but I am ready for the weekend. These first three weeks of school have flown by! I have had clinical all three weeks, so it has been a lot of fun, and I have learned a lot, but I have been very busy. I am a little sad I will be off clinical for two weeks, but I should be able to get caught up on some homework, which will be nice. Although I have a lot of homework to work on this weekend, I am planning on taking Saturday off to spend time with my son Joel and possibly take a little trip up to the Omaha Zoo! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

If you are interested in learning more about our programs and even having some hands on opportunities you should attend. You can R.S.V.P at 402-481-8697. Also, if you are wanting to apply for our Nursing program the next application deadline is February 1, 2012 and for the Health Professions programs it is February 15, 2012. However, if you get your application in by October 31, 2011 the $40 application fee is waived! Hope everyone else is having a great first few weeks of school!

Looking back....

It's College Prep Camp around here at school. It makes me reminisce about my freshman year and how bittersweet it was. We were scared yet excited at the same time. Can't believe how fast it went and how I'm down to 3 semesters left.

3 Weeks of Summer Left

WOW!!! Summer has gone by way to fast, there are only three weeks left! I am sad summer is going to be over soon, but at the same time I am ready to get back to school! I am going into Nursing Care I this semester which I am extremley excited about! Im hoping to make a trip to the lake before school starts I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their summer!!

It's the weekend! The Health Care Career Camp hosted this week by Kelli was a great success. The students got tons of experience and I think made a few friends. This weekend should be enjoyable now that it has cooled off a little.

Health Career Summer Camp

This week has been our annual Health Career Summer Camp and it has been very successful! We have 46 campers that are interested in the health field. They have all had a very good time learning about respiratory, birthing simulator, anesthesia, laboratory, sonography, iv's, ng tubes, injections, sterile dressings, catheters, sleep labs, ICU, star care, CPR, and trauma. It has been a very busy week for all of us! Later this afternoon UNL Head Volleyball Coach John Cook is coming to do a presentation and we are all very excited to meet him! Hope everyone is having a good summer!

Summer!

Hey! I Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. So far my summer has been pretty busy with school and work. I just got done with my Spanish Class, so now I am hoping to have a little fun in the sun before its time to get back to class in August. This last weekend I was able to take my son Joel to Fun Plex in Omaha, we had a Blast! I am hoping we can have a few more fun-filled weekends before summer is over! I hope everyone else is able to take a break and have some fun also!!!

Summer Vacation

Hopefully everyone is having a great summer even though it is extremely hot! I have been very busy this summer between working and my summer practicum. My whole month of June was dedicated to clincials. Now I am working a lot and trying to spend as much time as possible at the pool. I can't believe that next week is already our Health Career Summer Camp! We hope that everyone that attends has a blast!

Summa Summa time!

Hope this finds everyone having an awesome summer break! My summer has been pretty eventful. So far I have been working, camping, celebrated my friend's wedding, took a trip to Mississippi to see the boyfriend, went to a few country concerts and will be heading to Kearney for cruise night this weekend. I also started my summer speech class. This makes for a busy break! Deep down I am anticipating the start of a new semester in August ;)

Is it Spring yet?!

Hello! Did everyone have a good spring break? I traveled to the Gulf Coast where the weather was warm and the sun was shinning. It is somewhat depressing coming back to snow in NE! It's been awhile between posts! Everyone that told me Nursing school after the 3rd semester was crazy busy and time consuming was right. It is very rare to have one day where I don't need to be at school, clinical or studying and catching up with other classes. Thankfully, I don't mind it too much and have kept up so far :) Think Spring everyone :)

Busy busy!

Hey all!
We have been very busy here at the college. Spring semester classes are getting into full swing and are busy as ever! Also, we just had our BSN application deadlines so there have been lots of prospective students in and out of here for their interviews. So far this semester has been good, just very busy! I am finally into the clinical portion of my schooling, but it is a lot of work that's for sure. Hopefully in my free time this weekend (if I have any) I want to go see the movie that just came out last Friday called The Roommate. Has anyone seen this movie? I'm sure glad I've never had to experience a roommate situation like this!

Hope everyone survived the recent snow/ice storm. It was nice to have yet another day off of school :) The application deadline for the BSN program starting in the fall of this year was the 1st and we are finally getting caught up on scheduling interviews and processing applications! Can't wait to see all of the new faces around campus.

Remember the deadline is the 15th for Health Profession applicants!

Who do you have picked to win the Super Bowl?

Brrrrr....

It's cold here today! It took everyone a lot of extra time to get in to the College because the streets were so slick. We're just glad that everyone was driving slowly and got here safe. It looks like this is just the start of this wintery blast. I guess the snow is going to arrive sometime this afternoon and then we'll have a short break from it tomorrow morning and then Tuesday night we'll get more, along with subzero (really?) temps and high winds.

Would it be too much to ask for summer to make an earlier appearance? Anyone else with me on this one?

We are keeping very busy in the Admissions Office, McKayla, Julie and Shelby are even busier with clinical this semester than before. But with our Fall BSN application deadline tomorrow and the Health Profession deadline in two weeks the mail alone takes more than a day to get through. We are usually just finishing up processing the previous day's mail when the next batch shows up! Not that we are complaining we love getting all the applications and we are excited to start accepting our next classes!

I'm thankful that I have some yummy spicy leftover chili for my lunch today...perfect on such a cold a blustery day. What are you going to do to keep warm?
