Hello

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!! I sure did, I went home to Kearney for a couple days to be with my family. We didn't do a whole lot for presents, however, Santa did bring me a sweet heated ice scraper for my car, so I kind of want it to snow again so I can try it out! My other gift was from my brother and his wife to be, funny thing was that we got each other the same thing, a gift card to best buy with a basket full of movie treats to enjoy a nice movie night with our significant others. Crazy! Other than that, break has been very relaxing and enjoyable. My man and I went to Marley and Me (the movie) two nights ago, which was very cute! I won't give the ending away, but be prepared to cry! :)
Hope everyone is ready for a new year to begin! The only thing I hate about a new year is having to remember to change the date when I write it, by the time I get in the habit of writing the correct year down, it is usually time for the next year to roll around! Ah well...but from me to you, I truly wish a happy new year, may all your dreams and wishes come true!

!!!Happy Holidays!!!

I am officially on BREAK!!!!! yahoooooo!!! And it feels AMAZING! Probably the most excited I have been for a break, ever! This semester was challenging and I am ready for a chance to relax and have a little bit of free time! So in spirits of the lovely holiday...I found an adorable picture...I love dogs! :)

Also, this picture reminded me of this youtube video that was played on Good Morning America that other day...it's pretty cute!
Until next time...

Break Time!

I am the first of the 3 student assistants to finish my finals! I have gone the whole semester and am ready to party! I am planning on going home for the weekend so that i can use my parents flat screen TV and surround sound to watch Batman (I bought it the day it came out on DVD). I also am going to go buy my Coheed and Cambria ticket at the Mid America Center! I love Break so much, I honestly don't even know what I'm going to do with a whole month off school. Hopefully I can do all the stuff I didn't have time for when i was in school Such as:

-Working Out

-Going to Movies

-Playing Video Games for Hours at a Time

-Work an entire Week

-Shower... Just Kidding

I wish my Co-workers the best on all thier finals, and hope all your grades were high. I will be blogging over break to tell you just how great break is going. Have a great break and I'm looking forward to all your smiling faces next semester!

It has been a while....

Sorry I have no blogged for a while...
I am very excited for finals to be over! I am officially done with "class" for the semester, now all that's left is finals next week and it can't come any sooner...
-What exciting have I been up to?
Well...as Riley said, the Christmas Party was a blast, and once again, a big thanks to Lisa, Sara, and Kelli for our awesome stockings!!!!
-What am I doing for Christmas?
I am going home eventually, after I visit my man's family on the 24th.

P.S. Riley dislikes my self question/answer session, but do I care....no....just kidding, but not really. Ok so one must understand we have this wonderful brotherly sisterly relationship (as everyone calls it), so if any of you out there think we are rude...it is kind of inside rudness that really means nothing.

Everything Blog

So I couldn't decide what to blog about today so I think I'll just talk about everything that's on my mind for a little while
1. The Student Ambassadors and Student Assistants had a Christmas Party and it was super fun. We had a gift exchange and took a limo ride. A HUGE thanks to everyone that helped set it up.
2. Finals are hard
3.I am looking forward to Winter Break, I will be sitting at home watching a lot of TV and will be sleeping past 8 a.m. every morning
4As everyone knows I love movies, and this holiday season I'm hoping to get to see some. Good ones look like The Spirit, Yes Man, and Tale of Despereaux look good. I'm on the fence about Four Christmas',Valkyrie, and The Day the Earth Stood Still so we'll see. 3 more months until Watchmen ;)
5 Next Semester I will be experiencing the Main Event of BryanLGH College of Health Sciences, and that is the Clinical hours. I am Very Excited, but have had some bad dreams about screwing something up so I'm very nervous too. I think the bad dreams are going to make me be more careful though so we'll see.
So Shelby, all of those things are things you can blog about, I've done a whole blog on the new batman movie so it's really whatever you want.

The Moountain Before the Finish Line

As Katie said the end is near, but there is a huge obstacle in the way of winter break. That would be FINALS! and here at BryanLGH College of Health Sciences, they are no easy hurdle. All the things you've learned throughout the semester comes into play, and you have to apply it to situations. Going through chapter review after chapter review, trying to get in study session, and cramming into the late hours of the night are just standard procedure. This is an especially difficult week for me because of my heavy working classes. I have finals for Micro lecture, Micro Lab, A+P Lecture and A+P Lab, but as Katie said it ll all be worth it in the end (Smiley face)

The End Is Near!!

Just wanted to shout out to Shelby, our new student assistant, who is saving Riley and I in the office! Things were definately a little crazy for a while, it is so nice to have that third person to help get things done!

The end is near!! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am also seeing the light of my lamp keeping me up with all my studies!

(naps are always a good thing too, my motto=sleep is always more important!)
This is definately crunch time, and it is obviously showing. I know we allied health folk only have one more test in each class before the big finals...talk about stress? a little yea! I know I've said this before, but I will say it again, for any of you out there that think associate degrees are pud...think again! I have had to work my toosh off more than I ever have in my life (true fact), however it is definately paying off. My grades are great, but I know it is because this information is so important to me and the future of my career, that I give a lot more effort now than ever before; compared to high school and my previous college experience. It goes to show that I am finally figuring out the right direction in life, and I am very passionate about it! (that really excites me!) hurray!

So my advice to anyone out there...find what you love to study (for me it is the heart and how it effects the entire body system) and go explore the things you can do with it, you never know, you may end up as an allied health student!

Mid Semester Done!

We have reached the half way point here at BryanLGH College o' Health Sciences. And So far so good, I've stayed busy and missed very little class. And my favorite part of the new semster, making new friends in my new classes. Also helping the time pass by is watch Football, I have had some teams that i love watching, and others I love watching lose (HAHA Peyton Manning). But the second half is the cold half, so the SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) is going to be kicking in any moment. My roommate is moving out, giving me a little more space in my house for a couple months until my good friend Mike Johnson moves in. My semester has been entirely too active, and I am looking forward to a very relaxing Thanksgiving break. I am also Excited about the new Student Assistant Shelby! Kt and I have been swamped since Jenna left and with just one week of Shelby being here the work load has decreased enormously. So Welcome Shelby we're glad you're here!

Hello to All!!!

Soooo there are a lot of exciting BryanLGH College of Health Sciences activities going on...including the Fall Ball, which is coming up Nov 14th...which should be a pretty good time, open bar for all those of age!! cool beans!!! The more people go the more fun it will be...come on, I'm going so that means it isn't going to be lame! :)
I have definately had a busy week and plenty more to come as the semester end is within reach! I am actively involved in a lot of activities such as Action for Students, Student Govt Association, and a rep for the Allied Health programs. Busy busy busy, only to say that next semester will be worse..eak!
Anyways, one thing we are looking into in the allied health business, is trying to get more people aware of our allied health programs....if anyone has suggestions let me know!! Would making the website display them better? do we need more advertisments all together? do nursing students even know we have allied health? Anyways, just to put this out there that we are looking and thinking of new strategies to get more students applying! It is an awesome field and so much fun! ok those are my two cents...that's about all I have for now...
Until next time...

Voting year almost OVER!!!

If anyone is like me then they are glad that the election is almost over. It has been a long 4 years, and I'm happy to see it come to an end. All the angry things that they have said about each other, all the rumors, and lies about the other candidate really brings out the negative side in this country I believe and am happy to see it all go away. Personally I think both would be great Presidents, so whoever wins I'm not planning on complaining, unlike the a lot of people I know. I am being forced by my mother to vote, so thats really the only reason I'm doing it. As I write this blog I wonder how many people are out there writing blogs just like this one, and how many are wishing that the nation were as split as it is now for longer. Just remember if your behind that curtain and can't decide between any candidates, wether it be govener, or school board, or yes even President just do what I do. . . Vote Riley Brown ;)

After a month of Not Blogging, we are still busy!

Thank god for kt coming back! because while she was looking at all those fancy machines, I was here entering welcome cards and typing my fingers off. Since last I blogged I have joined the BryanLGH Student Government. The student Government was set up because we needed it for accreditation, which reminds me... BryanLGH College of Health Sciences is Accredited! As of early this month we received conformation. So anyway, my life's been pretty crazy outside of work as well. My roommates Sister had a baby so he's been going crazy, My sister is due in just 8 days, but I've rushed to the hospital twice thinking she was going to have it but both times it just happened to be back pain, I'm glad I was there to help out though. We are all so excited, and cant wait for the new baby (even though they have no name for the little guy yet (Elvis has become the nick name)). I got to go to my nieces Second birthday party, I got her a sweatshirt that she didn't seem too impressed by. And now that we are nearing the holiday season the big question on every ones mind is, What will Riley be for Halloween??? Well It is up in the air still, but it is getting narrowed down. Since I can't seem to get the pictures on the blog, you can go to these sites to see my ideas- first is the lead singer from prodigy in the fire starter video

Happy Blog

I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick of hearing about the stock market and presidential campaign! I did vote, however I had to do it absentee since I am registered in my hometown. But proudly I did vote. I am glad I did, even though I really didn't know who to choose.

On an even happier note, I spent this fall break in Peoria Illinois with some really close friends. We toured the Caterpillar plant where they make the D-9,10, and 11 (if you don't know, those are the really big Caterpillar machines, as shown below). My friend just got a job at the plant in Peoria (thus the reason we went there), as he will be one heck of a engineer there!
We also went to Par-A-Dice casino (I love the name, how creative!) which was also a pretty good time. I witnessed two people right beside me win $80 and $60 on the penny slots! Lucky! The most I won was about $7 but hey, if you ever go to a casino and want a small amount of money to go far, play the penny slots! I spent only $30 and it lasted me over 2 hours!
Until next time...

It's been a while...

Sorry it has been quite some time since I last blogged. If anyone ever heard BryanLGH College of Health Sciences was easy, they are definatley wrong. I have been quite busy with studying! This coming week I have 5 quizzes for only 3 classes, then the next week, I have tests in all 3 classes. Everyone is getting ready for fall break I assume. Oh well, it is really fun finally learning about things that I am completely interested in, and knowing that I will use the information in the future is a help as well. I am so glad I made my decision to come to BryanLGH for vascular sonography!!!
I have also been getting involved in campus activities such as action for students and student government association, along with participating in the diabetes and cancer walks! I actually know some nursing students, which is always fun because we don't ever get to interact otherwise.
As Riley said, we have been very busy in the office now that Jenna is gone...so if any of you out there want an admissions position apply now!!!! It is a good time, truly! The people we work with make it awesome!
I will be writing again soon!!

Busy, Busy Busy

The Admissions office has been Swamped since the begining of last week. With school starting, Jenna leaving, and Kelli and Sara being on the road the work just keeps piling up. When I was a prospective student I had no idea how much work it took to send me all that BryanLGH information. I'm excited to find out who our new co-worker will be, because its always fun to meet a new person. If i ever get to see her i suppose since I never saw Jenna anyway. Out side of work life has been pretty usual; school, workout, homework, watch TV. Next Saturday I start my first SCC class so that will maybe effect my daily agenda. So far I've gone to ever Husker game for free but this time it looks like ill have to pay a little bit, not too much though. And thats pretty much the blog for this week, hope everyones having fun with school and work

Walkin n Workin

Check this out, they have work places that have tredmils that the employees use while working. Although they walk really slow (below 2mph), it still burns a heck of a lot of calories. Just an interesting item I wanted to share. the complete article is http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/18/health/nutrition/18fitness.html?no_interstitial if your interested in learning more. We couldn't figure out if they do have places to sit if they want or not, but very interesting indeed.
In school related news, I am finally finished with this week that was full of quizzes and tests. I am excited to have a weekend of basically no studies! I studied so much this past week, and I think it really payed off (I hope). Yup, I am still enjoying all the homework and studies, so I realllllly hope it continues!! Maybe just the atmosphere of a different school is helping, along with the fact that I have finally figured out where my life is heading, and I know I have to understand what I am learning to be able to do my vascular ultrasounding well!
Anyways, a final farewell to our Jenna as she will no longer be a student assistant, we will miss you!!

Ugly Polotics

This, as everyone knows, is an election year, and I am not in a good mood about it. I had typed a whole blog out that talked about how the candidates were making this an ugly election but having read several articles my eyes have been opened. It is the media and the party fanatics that are making it an ugly race. Using words and phrases out of context, using party stereotypes to describe candidates, and focusing on the one ugly sentince out of a two hour speech. I admit that the commercials being put out that are supported by the candidates are ugly, however those are the parties talking. I really am getting sick of it and wish I could have a truly un biased nonparty oriented look at the candidates. However, the media is looking at the ugly parts of the race for viewers, and the fox news conservitive, or the Daily show liberal agendas make it near impossable for me to actaully hear the messages of the candidates. The best advice I had ever gotten was to never vote for a party, but always vote for a person, but as the campaign goes on it seems that the candidates become more and more like robots for their political parties (not to be confused with party robots which i enjoy very much)

Methemoglobinemia

There have always been tales of blue people in mythology, popular fiction, and in the news. Yes, blue people exist here and there in the real world.

Two conditions cause people to live and be (literally) blue. Methemoglobinemia is a condition in which the blood carries less-than-normal amounts of oxygen, making the blood appear blue. Argyria is caused by the ingestion of silver, usually for medicinal purposes. The effects of silver ingestion are permanent, and if the consumption of silver continues long enough, can be fatal.

Methemoglobinemia can be acquired through use of certain drugs, or can be inherited through the presence of recessive genes. There have been reports of blue families or tribes through history that could be explained by inherited Methemoglobinemia. The best-documented of these is the Blue Fugates of Kentucky.

2008 MTV VMA's

Hmmmm I watched the vma's this year and lemme say i was less than impressed. First off Russel Brand wasn't funny. He was really annoying and looked rediculous, how can you take him seriously as a host? Brittany Spears won 3 awards for a song that her voice sounded so electronically dubbed that a robot might as well have sang it. I was even disappointed with rock video of the year going to Linkin Park for a slow song, it seems that names won this year and not music, which is where mtv has been for a while and it is very disappointing that they really don't care about good music anymore. Some deserved moonmen go to Kanye West for the good life, and Gnarles Barkley for Run. Even though it isnt a great video the white stripes were the lesser of 5 evils in best cinematography. So as dissappointed as i am in the winners that mtv chose, the biggest disappointment was with the fan vote of best new artist. Tokio Hotel is the worst band I have heard since... ... wow theres a lot, Nickleback, Pussy Cat Dolls, or Puddle of Mud. Since when is it ok to be popular because of how you look. at least nickelback and puddle of mudd looked like normal people. it would appear that in 2008 you were popular if you looked stupid.

and yes all the people pictured below are guys

So long story short if you wanted to win this year at the vma's you needed to be stupid (Brittany)
or stupid, stupid looking and have limited talent( Tokio Hotel, Russel Brand, and the Pussy Cat dolls)
Maybe i should stay away from mtv and watch some of the shows that jenna suggested... stupid mtv

Fall TV Shows

Wow it has been a long time since I blogged. School is going well but busy... I am in nursing care I so I am getting started in all the good stuff and having clinical 3 times a week!!
I do not know about you guys but I am getting excited for fall TV, all my shows will be starting in the next month, I CANT WAIT!!! I was never a TV/sitcom junkie until last year when I didn't have cable. The only channels I had to watch ABC, Fox, CW, and CBS and I was left to watch all the sitcom every night. Well lets just say I got hocked and now it seems like I have a show to watch every night! Lets just hope we don't have another writers strike and we can all enjoy our favorite returning shows like Grays Anatomy, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies!
There is also a few new shows that look pretty interesting. I can not wait to see 90210 again! After the first episode it got the best rating ever for CW. We will just see it is matches up to the past episodes.
Gary unmarried-looks like another good one. Its about a recently divorced man adjusts to being single again after 15 years of marriage while also raising two kids with his controlling ex-wife.
Kath and Kim looks good for the ladies- A look at the relationship of a dysfunctional mother-daughter duo and their adventures in middle-class suburbia. This American remake is based on the Australian show of the same name, currently one of the most popular Australian shows.

It looks like a good run down of shows for the fall--hopefully we will be able to get our studying done!

I am posting a site where everyone can look at their favorite shows, days and timing or check out a new show. http://www.tvguide.com/special/fall-preview-2008/fall-schedule.aspx

Labor Day

S I actually Labored a ton on Labor day this year. my roommate was out of town so i figured with him out of the way it would be very easy to clean my house so i did laundry and dishes and mowed. I was super excited that i got so much accomplished. All the laundry isnt done and when my roommate came back he used practically all the dishes I had just cleaned so it looks like tonight i will be back to cleaning. I am going back to omaha this weekend and might hopefully find a car so i can get to school in 5 minutes as opposed to 25, and to celebrate my brothers birthday. happy 26 Myles!!! other than that my lifes been going pretty good

CLASS!! yeah!!!

Class has finally started, and actually I am really enjoying it! Fortunately, I do not have to ride my bike to class as Riley does, but the shuttle suggestion is very true one indeed! I have met some great people that I will have a great couple of years studying and hanging out with. The instructors are quite fun, and oddly I look forward to homework and spending countless hours studying, I won't be saying that long, but right now I really do feel that way! Not too much else is going on, but Riley was saying I haven't blogged for a while so here it is. I will come up with better stuff next time...but I am looking forward to this long weekend of family reunion fun so yeah!!
Until next time
~Kt~ :)

Classes Begin

So summers over. Mine was kind of a bummer so im glad to be back in school. Ive been biking to class which is making me feel great, and hopefully soon look great too. Classes have gone just swimmingly. My teachers are all great and nice and fun! The best part is that I get to see all my friends again! Like mike, jessica, kayla and of course everyones favorite Allied Health person KT!! But what puzzles me is that even though i work with her, and i goto school with her, I hav not seen jenna since orientation for working here. Anywho, Im so happy that im working at the school so that my schedule never conflicts. It's the coolest. And for all the students that have to travel from east to west, might i suggest taking the shuttle? its free, you save gas, help save the enviornment, and it goes every 15 minutes. I know I'll be taking the shuttle every monday and friday. So until next week

Cyclops Knee

So I had my knee finally scoped this past thursday, and I chose my favorite 2 pics of the bunch. Originally they thought my meniscus was torn, but in fact this lovely 'cyclops lesion' was found instead, which for those of you who have never heard of it is,

"a complication of anterior cruciate ligament surgery, where the new replacement ligament slowly strips away and bundles into a knot, jamming up the 'intercondylar notch' and preventing the knee from fully straightening. The lump sometimes looks like the central eye of a mythical 'cyclops' monster, hence the name." http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEnotes/cyclops-lesion

I did have an ACL reconstruction about 2 1/2 years ago so this buger has been harvesting inside my knee ever since, hence the reason I couldn't straighten my knee (now I finally can!!) yeah and why it was hurting (from it indenting on my cartilage)! As for my luck, this only happens 1-9.8% of those who have ACL surgery...go figure haha. But I have felt great from the moment I woke up from surgery, so that was wonderful and I am already up and walking pretty normal only 4 days later! :) I'm glad to be back, and yes Riley, I have been watching the Olympics non-stop, is that even a question? haha!

Guest Post - When Nurses Earn More than Doctors

The medical profession is normally seen to be altruistic, what with doctors and nurses coming across as saviors who eliminate pain and suffering and help cure diseases and ailments. Nurses have always been viewed in the supporting role and never as part of the main act, helping to carry out the treatment rather than providing it themselves. Of late though, the spotlight has shifted to nurses in some specialties, and there’s been a lot of bickering and arguments doing the rounds about the fact that some kinds of nurses are now earning much more than some kinds of doctors.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), who are qualified to anesthetize patients during surgeries, are now earning an average of $185,000, a figure that’s much higher than the $172,000 earned by family practice physicians and the $176,000 taken home by internists, according to data released by recruitment and staffing firm Merritt Hawkins & Associates.

Are doctors, by virtue of having gone to medical school and completed four years of intense education coupled with one year of residency, deserving of a higher salary than nurses? Are there not nurses who have a similar level of educational and practical experience? Advanced nurses including clinical specialists, nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives and nurse practitioners are certified and hold at least one graduate degree. Their experience in the medical field is also advanced and long standing.

But because of the perception that a nurse is just a nurse and never will be a doctor, there is always the discrimination that a nurse cannot do the things a doctor does with the same amount of effectiveness. There is still a raging controversy going on about the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree open to nurse practitioners who have completed a graduate degree and which qualifies them to provide fully accountable patient care across all settings, with some doctors arguing that no amount of training or education is enough to prepare nurses to practice medicine without the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner.

Amidst all these advancements in education and the corresponding arguments, there’s just one thing that remains constant – the prejudices that rule, and ultimately ruin us.

Olympics part II

I, jenna, have been watching the olympics and i have got to tell you I am IN LOVE!!! when ever america is in an event i am on the edge of my seat screaming at the tv. I can't get enough. Some of the greatest are swimming becuase apparently america has the best swimmers in the world (I have watched the 4 X 100 about 8 times, because I hate the french swimmers). I also have come to like water polo. I would love to play some water polo some day. I've also been watching some tennis even though there arent any americans in that event. Our basketball team is doing just splendidly as is our easy to watch beach vollyball team. and gymnastics are also fun to watch. Im excited for the track and feild events to start though. I also wanna see a lot more biking going on, I love the biking event so much I started biking to work (or maybe its because i got in a car accident). When my roommate comes back on the 17th i think we are gonna try to play as many olympic sports as we can in one week. In conclusion I would like to say USA...USA...USA!!!

2008 Bejing Olympics

I don't know how many of you are interested in the Olympics but it is really catching my attention this year. I don't ever remember there being so many events, so of them I have to wonder if they are really a sport. Yesterday I was watching a man trout around on a horse not doing any jumps or anything. I found a really cool site were you could see all the country's and the number of gold, silver, and bronze metals they have received. China currently has the most with 14, then USA with 12, and in third place is a tie with South Korea and Italy for 8 metals. But they are nowhere near the end so a lot can still change.

Check out this website to find all the updates and information on all the Olympic events. http://www.nbcolympics.com/

Yeah!!!!

So I am now officially done with all my pre-reqs for school, so I can sit back and relax until school starts! yeah! I am kind of excited to be officially a "cna" or certified nursing assistant, or aide...I won't ever actually use it, but it was a pre-req and I ended up really enjoying the class, we at least the people in it! :) I also had to get the BLS healthcare provider CPR done as well, and that was a breeze also, thank goodness! I am getting very excited for school to start on the 25th and meet all the people I will be spending the next couple years with! :) Next week I won't be blogging as I will be off getting my knee scoped boo. At least it won't be as bad as my first surgery (ACL, meniscus, cartilage etc) so that is good news!!
So until next time!!

!Happy Birthday Brother!

Happy Birthday to my big bro today as he turns the big 25 today, he is old!!
wow, so I haven't blogged for quite some time now. Not a whole lot has happened in my life, besides being busy 24/7, I know how annoying it is to hear people talk about how busy they are as they think they are the only ones. But life is busy and I truly don't hate it I guess. My CNA class is going well as we have hit our half way point and I am still passing! yeah! The cornhusker states games are this weekend...I will be out watching the track and field at Wesleyan on Saturday, come eat at the concessions stand and I will be there to serve ya! ha! I have been giving lots of tours and hopefully I am getting a tiny bit better at them as I continue to learn new things everyday!
O and sorry Riley I had a grandma moment as I did not for the life of me have a reason why you would need the speakers back into the computer...not thinking about your site that plays music...I guess I just think about itunes and others not available on our work computers (ie wondering why you would want to hear the sounds of the computer only turning on and off)...so sorry...looks like you got it all plugged in though, glad to hear that whole ordeal is over!
Ok well that is all the excitment I have!

Batman!!!!!

I have had a rediculous week. all these numbers in the office, being single again, getting another job... i need a break, So im trying to get to batman tonight at midnight, and may have to go alone. Ive asked every person thats come into the admissions office, but nothing!!!! o well ill be alright, ill get to see it before a lot of people, so awesome!!! That er story was crazy though jenna, how busy, or maybe even jaded do you have to be to not react when somebody collapses? Im sure those people feel bad now, but thats something nursing students need to think about, will you beable to help that person or what will you do in that situations. i can only hope we would all choose the right thing.
On a lighter note kt, when you disconnect the speakers to use your ipod, RECONNECT IT. my fingers are too fat to fit in the space it needs to go in. not to mention the like 10 minutes i sit here trying to figure out whats wrong with it. i just play with knobs and push buttons, robb just watching me... so embarassed

ER Death

I do not know if you guys have heard about the ER death yet. In May a women had been waiting in a Los Angeles hospital waiting room for 24 hours when she collapsed and died with no help. Two security guards, a doctor and a nurse all looked at her on the floor before anyone helped the woman. She layed on the floor for close to an hours because the nurse came to the waiting area with the crash cart... it was a little late for that. Other patients in the waiting room even made 911 calls because the hospital employees were not helping, but when they called 911 no one would do anything because they were already in a hospital. That makes the story even worse. The sad thing is the whole thing was on video tape. Currently 6 hospital employees are being disciple for their actions. You can watch the video from the lobby and a recording of the 911 calls at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19207050/ or http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/02/waiting.room.death/. Luckily from this event federal regulators said Friday that they are pulling $200 million in funding from a troubled hospital that serves one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods, forcing it to all but shut down. It is scary to know this can happen, I always thought of hospitals to be very safe and life saving places. It may be something to think about.

WORST OUTBREAK IN OVER TEN YEARS!!!!!!

thats right it is pretty much an epidemic! it's horrible, its tragic, its... Foodborne? Remember just about a month ago when everyone said stay away from the tomatoes they have salmonella, well salmonella decided to make a come back. Only this time it spiced things up, because it came back in hot peppers. (Spiced up, hahahaha thats a good one) So far over 1000 people have become ill and 2 elderly Texas men have died because they enjoy raw veggies. And if you think thats scary, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that it can't just be the tomatoes and peppers making us sick, it must be something else too. And with 20 - 40 people being reported each day this outbreak has no signs of stopping. If you ask me at this point this sounds like an attack from the Joker, Poison Ivy, or Lex Luthor. And this villain is just sitting at their hideout with their fingers tapping together smiling at the total chaos they have created. So to protect ourselves from these Super villains we must either cook our veggitables, or do as rob and i do and just quit veggies cold turkey! in fact, Eat turkey instead of veggitables!

What??? If you haven't watched the final show of bachelorette look away!

So it is now said and done...the winner of the bachelorette is Jesse!! I am completely shocked, I was convinced it was easily going to be Jason! It is nice to see how completely in love they are and I am happy she found the love of her life. Maybe it was just that I thought Jason as the perfect man because of his extremely sweet caring nature and of course good looks...although I must say, once Jesse made his hair shorter he did look much better! I think they set the wedding for May 9th of next year so hopefully they air that one like they did for Trista and Ryan!

On another note...I started my "cna" class last night, I am taking the night class through Clarkson College but at Madonna because I needed it to be at night...anyways..it is from 4:30 to 10pm and wow it is long! I hope it goes fast, but so far it is alright (it's just hard to take something like that when you aren't going to actually practice it (since it is a pre req for vascular sonography))

So, Riley thank you for informing all of us through blogger that you had such a nasty sickness!! it's almost as bad as finding out someone is engaged through facebook!! haha...well we are all glad you are feeling better!! (next time maybe you should let us know before the world that you were truly that freakin sick!)
Until next time...

Thursday, July 3, 2008

So I was very sick a couple of days ago, and it looks like to me, my mother, and my new doctor, that it was caused by a kidney stone. I have come to this conclusion because as i was vomiting, i noticed that my side hurt very bad, and in my searches i find those are 2 severe effects of the kidney stones. to say the least it was a pretty missarable experience. apparently a kidney stone is when the wrong substances get through the kidneys, have a chemical reaction, and percipitate into a solid "crystal". It passed without me even knowing it was in there (I found out later what it was, im pretty grateful it wasnt big enough for me to notice) and i began to feel better as the night went on. So to make sure there werent any left and to check on everything else they did an abdominal catscan on me. That wasnt very fun, but it turned out everything else was ok. So that was my weekend.
Happy 4th of July

Happy Birthday to America!!

So, I am really not much of a history person...but I thought it was nice to know the history (or at least the date) of the start of the 4th of July, since is coming up in a couple days!!! So, it all came about on July 4, 1776, as we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave...because our generation saw nothing of what it took for America to become what it is today...it is nice to realize that on the day of the 4th we can really look back and think about those who helped make America what it is today and not only say Happy Birthday America, but to look back and say thanks!!! :)
~Happy safe 4th of July to ALL~~

p.s. n Riley has a good point on the walking thing! very well done, I am a huge fan of walking! my mother in law to be someday maybe (hopefully!)...well she actually lost like 30-40 lbs just by walking and eating less! it does work!!
